When he comes back what can we do to make him feel appreciated?

  1. suprise him with a party

  2. When he returns, make a suprprise welcome back party with all the kids and get him a card and gift like a teddybear saying, "we missed you."

  3. As said before you can have the kids make him a card, have them make it though, its more personal. You could also send him a little video recording of the kids saying something to him, it sounds like he needs to smile. See those kids faces would be nice. Also, you could see if any parents are interested in doing something for him and perhaps buying him something. When you are down often time food is the last thing you think about so you could try to coordinate something with his daughter.

  4. Get a giant card and have all the kids sign it.  You could also have a cupcake party when he returns.

  5. If you want to do something personal, make a nice card and include a small gift. If you want to involve the other students and their parents, think of an object that all of the students could sign their name or put a fingerprint on. Perhaps you could make a banner, or paint a wooden stool, or make him a personalized shirt; I'm sure that any thought you offer will be appreciated!

  6. Small party and a small gift will be nice
