What to do for an animal thats hurt

what should i do if i see an abused or hurt animal that belongs to someone? the dog that i see is hurt and not cared for is some what a gard dog even though its realy nice. i want to help it but i dont know what to do, call a vet, cops? so please tell me what shold i do? and if there is what is the name of those peopel that are liek animal cops

also the dog does not belong to me but does belogn to a compy owner but i never see them becouse thay leave there jobs earlyer

call your local ASPCA or police department.

This sounds like an animal cruelty case.  Call the police.  You stay away from this dog.  Dogs in pain can be dangerous if you do not know how to handle them.

Call your local police/sheriff's department's Animal Control division. You can file an anonymous complaint with them. They will come out and check on the dog, and will usually let you know what they find.

Calling your local Humane Society or ASPCA may also work, as they work closely with Law Enforcement to safeguard animals. HS & ASPCA have more limited hours than most police/sheriffs' departments.
