  1. From your mile time, you should be able to do it in under 20 minutes. I have a race time predictor and I put my 5:55 mile in there and it said I could run a 19:54 5k. So you should be able to run under 20 minutes if you try.

  2. Drink plenty of water, but not too much. Pace yourself and then at the end, sprint to the finish line!

    Buena Suerte!!!!!

  3. i do the race for the cure which is a 5k and i don't do anything to get ready........but i don't run it..

    I wouldn't push your self.

if you get tired while running stop and walk a little

  4. 5k is only 3 miles. Expect to be shocked at how short it is. It should be cake. Not even something worth preparing for. You should finish under 20min.

  5. I would probably invest in a heart rate monitor watch. That way you could gage how hard your pushing yourself and be able to adjust accordingly. You don't want to blow your wad in the first mile, yet you don't want end the race knowing you could have pushed yourself harder.

Looking at your height, I assume your max heart rate is in the 180's, so try to maintain you HR through out the race in the 155-170bpm range. Only getting it higher than that right at the end as you push for the end line.

But if your fastest mile is 5:45 I'm sure you'll do plenty well.

In the future you should look into running a half-marathon, good distance to truly test yourself but not tedious and boring like a full marathon.

    Good luck.

  6. pace yourself - don't set off too fast and all the other obvious stuff...

    you'll probably get about 30mins

  7. well seeing as it is this saturday this probably won't help you this time, but if you do any others i used this schedule and it worked really well for me--i just got up before school every morning to train.

other than that just yeah, pace yourself and you will probably do really well in it, i'd say around 20 min. also

  8. haha, here is a good one. DO NOT EAT WITHIN 45-60 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR RACE.

  9. I'm gonna guess that you can do the 5K in around 20 minutes.  Let me know how you do.

  10. umm depends if you have been running long disance for a while or not. if not then just pace yourself and just worry about your time. also don't drink alot of water right before the race or during if it's offered. also stretch well and just keep your eyes on the finish line

  11. slow and steady wins the race ;-)

start at a slow, steady pace then towards the end run really fast.

  12. start running now....you will get about a 28-31 min
