  1. If he has 10 years of legitimate experience, I don't see how being home-schooled as a child could be a problem.  If he was a home-schooled COLLEGE student, maybe I'd worry.

  2. Good grief, with 10 years work experience who cares? It's those 10 years you need to be looking at, after that much time in the real world his school history is meaningless. I wouldn't expect someone that age to include details of their education pre-degree level on their resume at all.

  3. I never knew that where/how you were educated came up on a background check.  I thought that was merely a check on any criminal history.  You learn something new every day:D

Nevertheless, he has ten years of experience.  Does it matter if he was homeschooled or public schooled?  If he can do the job, hire him.  Do not discriminate against him because he was homeschooled.  It is a legal, valid method of education.

  4. Nothing special. Do you request transcripts of public schooled interviewees? If so, do the same. If not, don't. You can also request ACT or SAT scores, or look at his college transcripts. If he has a college degree (or 10 years experience), I'd say skip the rest and let that speak for itself.

Besides, 10 years of experience: Doesn't that suggest he can do the job? Who cares where he went to high school?

EDIT:  Something fishy here. His account is new and he has asked variations of this Q all over YA, including law. I starred them. Check it out.

  5. hire him and don't worry about how he was educated as long as he has good references and can do the job.

His diploma from school isn't going to be displayed.

  6. The man has 10 yrs of experience and you are worried about his education?   What is the problem, I don't get it?

  7. Why are you asking this AGAIN, after posting earlier as the "prospective" employee?  And NOW you're posting as the employer??????

Your schooling shouldn't show up on your/ an applicant's background check.

  8. It wouldn't phase me. If I was looking to hire someone I would look more at the ten years experience than the High School experience anyway.

  9. You almost make it sound like he was hiding something.  If the individual is qualified and will be an asset to the employer then hire him.

  10. I would be very leery of any classes he claimed to have passed.

Did he claim to have graduated from high school?  Have him fill out an application and see if he answers honestly.

  11. I cann't understand as to what you want to know. Pl. describe clearly what has happened.

  12. Home-schoolers tend to be very smart..... so I don't get how him being home-schooled would change anything.
