  1. keep looking. teachers are hugely needed/wanted. I'm sure there's a school out there for you.

also look into managing places like daycares or chuckee cheese (sounds crazy, but managers in places like those, make real good money, more than school teachers sometimes-sadly)

  2. Well search for an alternative: http://www.AWSurveys.com/HomeMain.cfm?Re...

  3. I'd search for a different job. Maybe look at a temp agency and work in an office until you can find a teaching job.

  4. If you have been looking for a teaching position without finding one for a year, then either you are looking in the wrong places, or there's something wrong with your resume or salary expectations; teaching positions are generally immune to the economy.

Have a professional non-teacher friend look at your resume and see if they can help you identify what's putting prospective employers off.

  5. Temp agency? What about a headhunter? Could you take a temp job in the private sector using your degree until u can find something in yur field?

  6. Look for a different type of job for the present.  Go to a temp. agency so that you can check out the different employers while you get paid.  If you really, really want to teach either you are being too picky about the jobs or you need to look outside the are where you now live.
