What to do if my ipod nano's backlight wont turn on?

i lost my computer cable, but i had my dock for it. the dock would not charge the ipod up. i just found the cable this morning (the battery has been dead for about 2 or 3 weeks) and now that its charging. the back light won't come on. can anybody tell me why.

On the settings menu there is a control for back light. You can also soft reset by pressing the center button and the menu button and holding until you see the apple symbol. If none of this works, take it to the genius bar at an apple store if you have had it for less than a year and they will fix it for free.
