My son is 2 yrs and 3 mths old and only says things clearly, if he wants to. We've had him evaluated for speech and development, all which he passed above what his age is. We've had his hearing checked, and there's no problem there, but I just dont feel confident that he's ever going to speak clearly. He is always talking in his own lil talk, but I only understand about half, yet he understands everything we say to him and obeys wonderfully. anybody have any suggestions?

  1. Your baby is fine, he is just doing his baby thing. Don't force him to speak clearly that will only discourage him. He is still young, he has time to learn more.

Read to him, talk to him a lot, let him listen to you read aloud, and have conversations. You mentioned that he speaks clearly when he wants and that he passed his test so he sounds fine.

Just let him be comfortable in his own skin don't go by what others think and say of your child. Some people (excluding most professionals) unintentionally will hurt you by saying things about your child's (speech and development.)

If you feel your baby is okay, then he should be. Your his mama, you know best)

    Reading together promotes literacy.

    He is still a baby.

  2. Get a hobby

  3. hey don't worry

    his just a kid

when his around and still like that get him to a specialist

  4. Play toddler music with words and sing with your child.  My kids love music and singing.  Who can resist singing the words to a familiar tune, even toddlers!

  5. I had a friend whose son was almost 4 and they were worried terribly.  He was checked by his doctor and parents were told that he would talk when he wanted and had a need to and not to worry.  Two months later he started talking in full sentences and never stopped. Each child develops at their own rate.  Don't worry at this age.

  6. Be greatfull....mine barely spoke at 2 and she will be 3 this month and now we can't get her to shut up.

  7. my son was the same way at 2 and then all of the sudden he started speaking very clearly (and properly)  i think its normal for a 2 year old.  he will be 3 next month and he wont stop!  it kinda happened overnight

  8. Let him get older and develop like all kids, be patient. If he's still having problems before he goes to kinder garden the school will suggest you a specialist. Meanwhile, let the baby be a baby.

  9. he'll speak when he wants to, why rush? He's only two...

  10. well it takes a while it will be ok well my sisters baby is learning sigh language cause he cant speak
