What to do if your computer doesn't read your ipod anymore?

So I plugged in my ipod to my laptop today and for some strange reason, a pop up comes up saying "USB device not recognized"....No idea what went wrong...It still charges and my music is still on it...but it wont read in itunes and i really wanna add new music...help?

  1. the computer may have a virus


  2. You might have to upload a new version of itunes.  

  3. Try a different USB port.

  4. First I need to know if your using a mac or a pc.  If your using a pc, try using the system restore feature built into windows.  Just go to start, programs accessory's and click system restore, then simpley pick a date when your iPod was working and this should fix the issue.  If not, then their might be something wrong with the iPod itself.  If so, then you might need to restore the iPod by clicking the restore button in iTunes.
