I will be in Berlin for only one day(and night, of course). What can I do to make my visit memorable? What should I visit? I'm really into art and photography, by the way.

  1. Apart from the great inputs that you might receive here, check out the National Tourism Office from Germany. The site has years of researching what people want from their visit, and it's sure to present some key things in Berlin that will be of interest to you. It can be accessed via the TourismRankings link below.

As i mentioned elsewhere, you need to position yourself close to wherever you consider most convenient to save on your valuable time with your limited availabilty. Here's a few pages of hotels in the area, which you can sort by price, star rating and location. Dig in behind the initial pricing to discover lot's of free inclusions at the special prices ( only applicable to last minute bookings ) .... the other's are just plain discounted rates.

All the best for you planning and trip

  2. Checkpoint Charlie is a nice area to go visit for an hour or a few hours (depending on whether you go to the museum).  There are some images with stories around the area for now, until a new bigger museum is put there.

  3. Anything to do with The Third Reich has been destroyed.  Don't bother looking.

  4. EAT CHOCOLATE!

After all Germany has been called the land of chocolate......

Remember me- "Peace" when you do.......

  5. When I will be in Berlin later on this year, I am planning to visit the Pergamon Museum. From what Lonely Planet mentions, I believe that many state museums are closed on Mondays.

I read in Lonely Planet that there are a cluster of museums around the Pergamon.

  6. The Pergamon museum is excellent; it's on a 'island' called "museeninsel' or 'museum island'.  I really recommend going to see a musical at night; especially "tanz der Vampire" the effects are amazing, and i think if you're interested in art it'll be worth it.  I think it's about €25..so it's not too pricey...
