I will be in Darwin for 2 days as a stopover on my way overseas. Since I am not spending alot of time there, what are the things I must see while I am there? Is there anything that stands out from the norm?

Cheers

  1. mindle market[great food and art work],feeding the fish[ you get to hand feed a heap of different fish],f***y bay[pretty area good fish and chips] , cullen bay[good restaurants], on the way to the jumping crocs, fogg dam[heaps of bird life and possible croc sightings],and in litchfield national park, florence falls, wangi falls. on the way back berri springs[don't worry about the wildlife park , we felt a bit let down.] you'll need to hire a car to do most of these things , but all are well worth it . enjoy the sunsets they are awesome.

  2. not much. i was ther for abotu a week and was bored outa my brains!

    qld is way funner!

  3. Lucky you. I love Darwin. Your 2 days will fly by There are many attractions out side of Darwin and most are day trips so you wouldn't fit in more than one of those. Kakadu would be a bit tireing to see in one day . you could go to Litchfield national park or a trip to see the jumping crocodiles or Berry springs and the wild life park. But if you want to stay in darwin there are many lovely areas. Fish and Chips on the wharf is great or if you like a bit longer walk or jump on a bus if you would rather and get off at the casino next to Mindle beach and a must see museum . Maybe you are there the days or evening the mindle markets are on possibly a thursday evening if I remember correctly. Or take a bus around the bay to nightcliffe. Lovely along Marine parade as well. I'm sure you will get plenty of info once you are there

  4. not much

  5. Honestly not much.

    Sun bake? haha

  6. Kakadu is a must see, along with all the National parks up there. The night time markets on a Thursday night is also a must do and don't cook tea before you go, as there is plenty of different styles of cooking there to tantalise your taste buds and if you get there early enough around 4pm to 5pm, you will get to see the spectacular HUGE sunset that every goes to see.

  7. crocodile zoo and possibly a fly over in small hired plain spotting crocodiles.  Seafood restaurant good where yachts are moored--- lots of eating places ---- one has a guys loo with a one way see through mirror so you can look out but customers can't look in a detraction to your business but a talking point afterwards! The bicycle shops are good also as the one I tried had a park across the road in which they allowed you to try out the bikes---a variety of great foldable types great for city commuting. If there is a pool where you are staying swimming is great as the water is warm. Not sure if ocean swimming allowable when you get there as problems with poisonous jelly fish (you die if stung ) The out door zoo also great as has demonstrations of birds of prey that fly through and grab a fish or a rat. Also indoor aqariums that you walk through. There is also a great swimming lake nearby. The asian markets are also good and good food available if open.I also missed out on the fish feeding so check it out. Decide what you would like to do and check out in advance as 2 days is not a lot of time. I  missed out on the sunset cruises which are spectacular if no clouds. So good luck and have fun !
