So I am turning 21 in sept. and my 2 sisters and mother are flying to Las Vegas and then driving to Los Angeles for a few days.

**We are looking for things to do in Los Angeles. We are looking to get tickets to The Price is Right. We don't really have anything else to do. I am gonna be the youngest, so no Disney Land or anything kiddie, but we are also Christians, so no bars or clubbing.

----> I am looking for things that most people see when they go. Not the usual beach and Hollywood visit.

Thank you so much for the answers in advance!

  1. Universal Studios is a good place to tour ...it's very neat to see the sets there and all the movies that were made there.

There are also plenty of shops in L.A., Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills.

Other than that there is not much else... usually people visit us for the Hollywood thing or cosmetic surgeries

  2. People already gave you some great suggestions about things to do and see in LA, so a lot of my suggestions would be repetitive.  I can give you a bit of extra info about The Price is Right, though.

You do need to order tickets ahead of time, and you can check out the website for more information on how to do that.  Having a ticket, though, does not guarantee that you will get in.  You need to stand in line, and believe me, people get there EARLY.  The first time I tried to go, we got there at 5 AM, and the line was already around the corner.  We didn't get in.

The second time, we stayed in a motel right across the street from CBS studios, The Farmer's Daughter.  It's a pretty standard motel, but it's very convenient to the studios.  We actually got in line about 11 PM the night before the taping and were in the first row.  If you're staying in the motel, you have a place where you can go use the bathroom or take a 15 minute nap while the others hold your place in line.  The other cool thing about staying there is they have (or at least they *did* when we stayed there) a free seminar by the hotel staff on how to maximize your chances of getting picked as a contestant.  Bring water, snacks, a book and/or iPod to pass the time in line.

Be prepared for a very long day.  After the first line, you have a short break when you can run back to the motel, shower, and check out.  The motel will let you continue to park there if you are attending a taping.  Then more standing in line.  Then some waiting in a holding area.  Then they come through and check everyone's ID and verify they're over 18.  Then they do a quick one or two question "interview" with every audience member.  Then more waiting.  Then finally they let you in.  The studio is very cold, so you may want to bring a light jacket.

It will be a very exhausting day (we were awake for about 36 hours straight!), but you will have a lot of fun!

    --->Enjoy!

  3. Huntington Library and surrounding gardens, they have high tea too.  The Getty, Norton Simon Museum, Boat ride to Catalina, Olivera Street, China Town, etc.

Check out a tour book and arrange for a tour of the Hollywood star homes.  Stuff like that is a lot of fun.

  4. If you haven't been to Disneyland, then you DO need to go, at least once!  Go late in the day, and stay after dark.  There are lots of bands around then ...  My husband and I would go every couple of years (just the 2 of us) for the dancing and music.   Go to Balboa and walk around the island;  take the boat to Catalina......

  5. Right next to the CBS lot where they shoot The Price is Right is a really cool outdoor shopping mall modeled after an Italian villa called the Grove that I def. recommend you checking out. The same company that designed the famous water fountain that synchronizes music to the water also did the fountain at the Grove, and it's fun to watch. There are great stores there, and that's where the flagship A&F is located. On Wed nights they have a free concert. Adjacent to the Grove is the old Farmers Market, and they have jazz music on Friday nights.

Also near CBS is 3rd Street where there are some funky cool shops & cafes like Toast and the very, very celeb-popular Joans on 3rd. You almost always see someone cool there. LACMA, the LA County Museum of Art, which is by far my fav, is also right at Wilshire and Fairfax, and it's def. worth checking out, especially because it's free after 5. Right beside that is the La Brea Tar Pits, which are kind of cool to see. You can walk there from the museum.

    I also love:

Griffith Park: you get killer views of the city, and it's really interesting

Los Feliz village: have dinner or lunch there while you're in the area for Griffith Park. It's really retro and cool. Fred 62, the Dresden & the Brown Derby are all fun.

    Santa Monica:

The 3rd Street Promenade is awesome

The SM Pier: there are free concerts

Main Street: the Sunday Farmers Market is a lot of fun, and the shops there are cool

    Venice:

    Abbott Kinney

    Eclectic-cool stores and cafes

Venice Beach: touristy but worth checking out

    Manhattan Beach:

    Really pretty and great beach

    Getty Center, Brentwood

    Getty Villa, Malibu

    Hollywood Bowl

Greystone Mansion: beautiful mansion where a ton of movies have been shot, and it's owned by the city of BH as a park, so you can picnic and hang out there

    Sunset Strip

Music venues like the Whisky, Troubador and Key Club are cool

    Mel's Diner

    Saddleranch

    Hollywood

Bleh....I'm not a fan, but it's worth seeing. The Walk of Fame is one of those must-dos

If you're in LA on a Sunday & are interested in going to church, I really recommend Bel Air Presbyterian. It's on the famously beautiful Mullholland Drive and is gorgeous, and the 6pm sermon is very chillaxed (it's mainly teens, 20s & 30 something and you can wear jeans and a tee or whatever), the worship band is awesome like you wouldn't believe, & the pastor is amazing. There's a coffee shop up there, so you can grab coffee beforehand. It's a very welcoming environment, and visitors check it out all the time.

Have an awesome trip. : )

  6. You have to sign up for tickets early to get them before they are all gone. You aren't guaranteed a spot so know that and go early to stand in line if you really really want to go. I found ticket info here:

    http://www.audiencesunlimited.com/

    http://tvtix.com/schedule.php

Also, I would check out Laguna Beach.  I know you said you didn't want the beach thing. I'm not suggesting the beach or the bars there. I'm suggesting the tourist activities of the art district's and Festivals they have. If you are going to be here before September 1st then the Festivals are still open.  I found great info here:

    http://www.day-trips-and-weekend-getaway...

Hope you have enough time to get Price is Right Tickets!

  7. Go to Hollyweird and check out the strip. Venice, Santa Monica

Have a couple beers at a local bar it won't hurt. Really nothing to do unless you like to do outdoors stuff like hiking, surfing, bike riding.....etc

  8. There are many wonderful and interesting places in Southern California where you can visit with your family, such as, Marina Del Rey, UCLA & Westwood Village, The Grove at Farmers Market,  Mann's Chinese Theatre, La Brea Tar Pits, J. Paul Getty Museum to the amazing LA County Arboretum & Bontanical Garden. I usually visit this informative website: http://www.fun-places-to-go-in-californi... to get most of my information on where to go in Southern California. Pray for those who mock Christians, one day soon they have to stand before God and give account of their foolish actions. Anyway, Good Luck and have a great time with your family in LA!
