What to do in Madrid and Spain?

I'm planning to visit Spain soon.

I'd like to go to Madrid and places nearby.

What are your experience and what do you recommend doing and seeing in Spain but foremost in Madrid?

Probably you know the name "Madrid" because it's the capital but I would recommend you (if you really want to know Spain) to try other cities like Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Bilbao, La Coruña, Granada and many more.

Madrid is a big city with lots of buildings, parks, museums, shops and bars but is NOT specially beautiful or charming. The city has all the problems of a big city but very few of the advantages.

4 million people live in Madrid (survive, I would say) and 40 million people live in the rest of the country... and I know why.
