  1. its only one afternoon, so it would really depends on when you are staying.... you will arrive at 3 pm, so probably, you will get to the hotel at 5 or so... if lucky! its Mexico's rush hour, so, be patient....

i would really advice to walk around reforma (big avenue where the angel is) and get a glimpse of zona rosa, its really nice for tourists! and they have nice "tourist" bars around the are, but be careful cause that is also the g*y district, ha ha

if you feel like doing much in little time, then take the turibus.

remember everything in Mexico closes around 8, i mean stores and all, museums at 6, so, i would really advice for a walk, then dinner, and if you feel like, a bar... ha

  2. It´s great that you get to come to one of the biggest cities in the world! Go for a ride in the Turibus, it´s definitely a MUST!

You´ll get to know the main landmarks of the city. It takes a couple of hours, although you can get off anytime you want. Have lunch or dinner in one of the finest mexican restaurants. I personally recommend you "El Cardenal", "Café de Tacuba" and "La Hostería de Santo Domingo" all in the downtown area, or "Izote" and "Águila y Sol" in Polanco (the mexican Beverly Hills).

El Museo de Antropología e Historia (The Nacional Museum of Anthropology ) is also a MUST, it´s  considered one of the most outstanding museums in the world.

Those are my recommendations to get "the big picture" of what Mexico City and its culture are about  in one day.

Enjoy your trip and welcome to Mexico!

  3. info about Mexico at

  4. Just don´t take green taxis

  5. Visit any of the museums located in Chapultepec park right on the street, Avenida Reforma. There are the Museum of Modern Art, the Archeological and Historical Museum (which I highluy recommend) and Chapultepec Castle which is an uphill walk, but well worth it. You could also go to the Zócalo, the central plaza, and see the  city and national govt. palaces and the natl. cathedral. Off to one side of the plaza is the Templo Mayor complex which is Aztec ruins. There are often protest gatherings in the Zócalo so if you see anything like tha stay across the street from it.

I do not recommend the Zona Rosa. It just gets worse and worse. I would recommend the Colonia Roma/Condesa area for partying and if you ARE into alternative lifestyle fun that is where you'll find it. Also the Polanco area has some very upscale and pricey restaurants and bars.

There are many fine restaurants in Mexico City, but since I don't know what area your hotel is in I will refrain from recommendations.

    Enjoy your time in Mexico.

  6. there are lots of FUN things you can do.
