  1. I don't know much about Nanjing, but i do know that you must be careful when you go there. Do not ever speak Japanese, however little, or say or do anything Japanese-related. You should know why. Sorry to the Japanese who may be reading this. No malice intended ; it's just a fact that i obtained from friends i have living in China.

  2. Well I live in Nanjing, it's a pretty old city which has many tombs from ancient to nowadays, including Sun Yet Sen's......=_=...If you have interests, you can take a look.

Nanjing does have a bar zone, it's called "1912", call for a cab, every cabbie knows where it is

  3. Nanjing is an alluringly green city, with its tree-lined streets and the prominent features of the Purple Mountain and Xuanwu Lake, as well as many other parks, gardens and lakes scattered throughout the city. Take a look through our tourism recommendations for more details on the many places to explore and discover here.

There’s a perfect blend of the modern and the traditional in this city of over 6 million people. Nanjing has had a long and, at times, violent history. As one of the ancient capitals, Nanjing abounds with historical sites both large and small. Its tragic history, however, has led to some sites being now simply ruins. In recent years, Nanjing has seen rapid development, from the subway opened in 2007 to the numerous new skyscrapers which dot the city.

Foreign investment has brought many large companies from abroad, and with its multitude of school and universities Nanjing is now flush with restaurants, shops and a variety of entertainment options that appeal to foreigners. You can generally find what you are looking for if you know where to go. Areas of particular note are Xinjiekou: the downtown area full of modern department stores and great dining choices, the Hankouxi Lu area: with a wealth of foreign goods and restaurants, 1912: a bar and restaurant area with architecture reminiscent of the early 20th century and Shizi Qiao: a pedestrianized street lined with restaurants selling food from every corner of the globe.

Keep in mind that Nanjing is a city of extreme weather. One of China’s “Three Ovens” it’s very humid and summer temperatures soar to 40 degrees C (104 degrees F). They then plummet in winter to -10 degrees C (14 degrees). So if you are going to be here for a while it’s a good idea to pack accordinly because larger sizes are hard to find. (Especially shoes) Keep in mind too that Nanjing is a very busy city at rush hour and it’s not uncommon to have to wait 20 min to find a taxi, so plan accordingly.
