Hello!

I won a trip to see the grand prix in Monaco. My hotel is in Nice. I'm leaving tomorrow, for 4 days.

I wondered if any of you could recommend me some restaurants, night clubs, bars, shops... etc.

Thank you very much!

Ella

  1. Nice has a lovely fresh market produce and flowers. Also, the cafes are adorable and the people are pleasant and mostly speak some English. The beach in Nice is nice but not sand.  Also, if you go to the historical section of Nice and walk through the city to the top of the hill, there is a nice garden.  In Monaco there is the casino where you can see some rich and famous while gambling.  Also in Monaco is a perfume factory called Fragonard (I'm not sure of the spelling)  and you should go there.  It is very interesting and you will find scents that you've never dreamed you could have.  It's not that expensive if you buy it right at the place.  When I say factory, I don't mean big ugly building.  It is a very beautiful place.   HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Awsome Trip.  Just ask the Hotel what are good places. I found all the food good and reasonable. Even took a drive to Italy. Had dinner there that was great. You can take a tour of the Castle and the small town they have. Lots of history, Shops and cafes. A cool way to get to Monaco is by Helicopter. There is a couple helicopter rides there that cost less than 85 euro. Best way to see all and get there quickly. Also you can rent a cell phone at the airport as soon as you get through security. I thought it was shady because of how the girl met me but was very reasonable and very accomendating. Stay at a hotel that speaks English. Carry a phrase book and right everything down on a flip card for emergency or if you get lost.

  3. That's great!  I was just in Nice last week and took a day trip to Monaco and Italy.  There are so many great restaurants in Nice.  Make sure you go to the Flower Market one night for dinner as there are many to choose from and you can dine alfresco.  I ate there three times while I was there, each time at a different restaurant.  I had lunch one day by the beach (there are many beach side restaurants to choose from).  There's plenty of shopping in the center of Nice:  Galarie Lafayette is the large department store.  They also have H&M, Hermes, Zara, and numerous others.

While in Monaco you might want to check out the palace.  The tour with headphones is only a half hour and well worth it.

I also took the bus to Cannes one day (the bus leaves right from the airport).  the beaches in Nice are beautiful, but are rocks.  The ones in Cannes are sand, if you are interested in going to the beach.

I don't speak French, but I managed to get by with a few French words.  Some people do not speak English, so I would recommend learning the words for hello, menu, bathroom, etc.

    Have a great time!

  4. Quick warning....not as many people in Nice speak English as in Paris, so learn some basic conversational French before you go. I don't remember the names of any restaurants offhand, but the Matisse Museum is there and that's pretty cool (if your into art). There's open air markets too....lots of shopping, lots of independent artisans selling their stuff. And, it's only 20 minute or so from Monaco, so depending on how long you're there you could easily take a day trip. It's the atmosphere that gets you though...the most beautiful city I've ever seen
