  1. St. Anthony is much smaller than Corner Brook and Sydney, only about 2500 people, but the local people may be much more interested in interacting with you than in the larger centers.  Your kids might easily find other kids to play with there.  I would expect that the community will have some events planned for you.

You could go to the Dockhouse Museum, which your 9 year old might enjoy.  It shows how they used to get boats out of the water for the winter or for repairs in the early 1900's.  Visit the Grenfell Center - if  you are visiting St. Anthony you have to learn about Sir Wilfred Grenfell - Dr. Grenfell.  He is a legend in Newfoundland and Labrador.  He was the first doctor to come to that part of the province, and he established hospitals on the northern peninsula and in Labrador in the early years of the 1900's.

I hope this information has been of some help.  Best of luck.
