Question:

What to do in Toronto?

I'm going to Toronto with my 12 year old sister. We're staying at the Fairmont Royal York hotel, since my dad has a conference. We'll get there on Friday at about 11 in the morning, and we'll leave on Sunday around noon. We would like to do most of our site seeing on Saturday though. Friday would preferably be light, local stuff. If you could please include some AFFORDABLE :) dining options that aren't that far, I would be so gracious, but you absolutely don't have to. And can someone please explain the public transport system in Toronto? Thanks in advance, I know these answers will be GREAT!!

  1. Things to see:

~CN Tower (you can go up in an elevator, great view...)

    ~Jays game @ the Skydome/Rogers Centre

    ~Ontario Science Centre

    ~ROM

    ~The Distillery District

    ~Centre Island

~Eaton Centre (huge mall, good in case it rains)

    ~Harbourfront

The public transportation system is called the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) and you can take subway, streetcars, or buses to get where you want to go. Plus there are transfers so if you get off the subway and onto a bus you still only pay 1 fare as long as you don't leave the actual city of Toronto. You can get maps and more information here:

Dining...well, there's an Eastside Mario's that I kind of think is in the approximate area that would be ok, they are not too expensive. Basically if you go into the chain restaurants, the prices will not get too ridiculous. The problem is only the fancy-schmancy dress-up-to-eat restaurants that will empty your wallet.

Hope I helped. It's a great city, and I hope you have an awesome time.

  2. Go to Eaton Center down town... there's a great subway system... theres TONS of clubs -- oh wait you said you're 12 or something..

anyway, there's the lakeshore and you MUST go to Toronto Center Island.

CN tower is okay, but it's cliche and kind of expensive to go up..
