Hi There!

I decided to go travelling in the last minute and now I need suggestions for places to visit in these areas. I will be for 2 days in each place and would love to do some short walks in some nice and beautiful places.

Also, I will be in Wellington for Christmas, so does anyone know of a good place to have dinner( not too expensive).

Thanks a lot!!

  1. Wellington I would recommend eating and drinking. By far the best place to do so in NZ.  The are so many good restaurants but I would recommend the Hummingbird on Courtney place, and scopa up on cuba street.

Its a Kiwi tradition to play minigolf in Taupo (and get sunburnt) then go across the road and practice your long game on the floating raft.  If golf is not for you then I would suggest taking  swim in the lake at near the yacht club - on a clear sunny day you should be able to get some great photos of swimming in giant crater with a volcano (Ruapehu ) in the distance - one for the wall!

A perfect 2 hour walk in Taupo is the Taupo to Huka falls walk along the banks of the Waikato river.  Go to Spa Road and teh walk is well signed - again, bring your camera very scenic.

Rotorua is a geothermic wonderland - enjoy it and don't forget to go to Waiotapu thermal park on the road between Taupo and Rotorua - its a truly unique and amazing place.

    Have a good time.

  2. hiya!

wells; te papa, hava walk around the harbour, go visit the war relics, don't really know too much bout there sorry

taupo; um? go to mt taranaki there might still be some snow.

the beaches are fun/beach/bay/lake, and it's a good place for some being time.

rotovegas; luge, polynesian spa, tamaki village - maori thing. cultural show, and mean feed afterwards. have fun

  3. Hey Maria!

I lived in Wellington for about half a year a few years ago...and have been to both Taupo and Rotorua!!

    Wellington:

Te Papa Museum-super cool and free (or at least it was free when I was there)

Trolley-get on it on Lampson Quay and take it up to the top of the Botanic Gardens...great view of the city, and the walk down through the gardens is awesome (a bit steep though).

Oriental Bay is a nice place to just sit and enjoy the water on a warm day-nice picnic place!

Taupo-lots of tourist activities related to the lake

Rotorua-the Maori cultural centre was really cool!! Lots of awesome natural stuff to see-bubbling mud, geysers ect ect...

Also make sure that you check out at least one hot spring while there!

Hope that helps! Enjoy your trip!!
