We will be going in October with 2 kids who love the outdoors. We were thinking about taking a pink jeep tour and maybe go to slide rock? We have never been to sedona before so do you have any suggestions for outdoor activities? and what is the weather like there in October?

  1. I love Sedona!  It is just beautiful!  October is an ideal time to go.  I went just about that time of the year and it was in the high 60s but here's their temperature averages.

Sedona is kind of a quaint town but it is a second home place for the upper middle class and people into the arts.  There are many galleries as well as some trendy stores.  Great place to shop. If you like to golf, they have some great courses.  It is also a wonderful place to look at nature.  The landscaping is remarkable. My favorite activity was horseback riding which they offer at several places (at least when I went about 5 years ago).  I live all the way up in Michigan on the Lake.  The only thing I missed was not being on a big body of water.  Hiking, of course, is another great idea.  I've also looked up what there is to do there for you.  I only stayed a few days.  There are lots of festivals that go on pertaining mostly to the arts.  If you are fond of the arts, you'll be in paradise!  Remember to visit Bell Rock!  I went up there and everyone watches just stopped working.  I forgot why this happens but it's a very cool phenomenon.  Here's that info.

I think the third website was the most helpful.  I would've liked to stay longer than just a few days but we were on our way down to Scottsdale, Arizona.  One more hint!  If you are driving, there are some alternative routes than the main highways that are MUCH MORE SCENIC!  We took one from the northern boarder of Arizona and New Mexico.  I hope you have a lovely vacation!

  2. Pink Jeep Tours will always thrill the kids with the rock-climbing and the red rock navajo sandstone vista views from atop the mesas...Slide Rock State Park just south of Sedona on 89 is a wonderful time for kids of all ages and it will still be warm enough water wise although the later in the day the better off you will be... You say that you have been to Sedona so you seen all the shops etc. on the main drag but there's old mining towns of Jerome and Oatman nearby or Meteor Crater outside of Flagstaff on 40 east about 1/2 mile south of interstate is cool to see in person, there's Native American ruins and dwellings in Waptuki and Montezumas castle are both nearby...Expect highs in the upper 80s and lows in the lower 40s at higher elevations... snowfall is possible since you are gonna be in the mountains... Shorts weather but bring long sleeve shirts, hiking boots and jackets just in case...ENJOY!!!

  3. The jeep tours are great and it should be in the upper 70's to mid 80's.
