Your in a draft where QB's are dropping like flies. Do you try and grab one while good ones still last or do you capitalize on people making mistakes, and grab up as many top WR/RB and say s***w having a solid QB? I was in a mock draft and had the 3rd pick. Reggie Wayne came all the way around to me in the 2nd round because so many people took QB's. so i took RB/WR/WR (torry holt being the other) what do you do?

  1. Eventually those other owners will turn to RB/WR and find them depleted, as you have stockpiled them. You did the right thing. You will have plenty of trade bait, and several owners will be lining up to offer you trades. So, stick with your guns and make them pay dearly when they do want to trade.

  2. It partially depends on how scoring for QB's work - generally passing TD's are worth less (for instance in Yahoo leagues default scoring they're worth 4 points) - if the league awards 6 points per passing TD then QB value goes up, but since most leagues award less it's really only justifiable to draft 3 QB's in the first two rounds (Brady, Manning, Romo) - after that all the other guys in the next seven or so produce fairly comparable numbers, and then there's another tier.  If you miss out on Tier 1 then keep grabbing other quality fantasy producers because you can get a Tier 2 or Tier 3 QB later who will be on par with most of the guys who were drafting ahead of you.  You also need to start far more RB's and WR's then you do QB.  You did the right thing - I just hope you got another solid RB when it came around for round 4.

  3. When talking QB value...all you have to do is look at Peyton and Matt Hasselbeck last year.  Hasselbeck threw for something like 75 yards less and 3 TDs less than Peyton.  However, Peyton went much earlier in the drafts.

  4. I like to try and get that good QB cause they net the most points.....but if you are in a spot where there is a position run....go with the most valuable guy left....I may have tried to soak up some of the RB's instead of the WRs but overall you did the right thing

  5. I always practice value based drafting, so you did the right thing.

Capitalizing on their mistakes compunds their problems, as you get a better team.

QB is a deep position.  You can wait a long time and still have Big Ben, or a young star like Jay Cutler that others will sleep on.

Balance is key, over reaching for a superstar at the expense of other positions.

WRs are very underappreciated, and in the new era of platoon backs, strong WRs who produce TDs are a critical commodity.

You did the right thing, no question.
