  1. Narita which is the airport is quite a long way out from the centre of Tokyo. There are buses into the city but they take an hour and a half so you wouldn't have much time left. I suggest you organise a tour from the airport. We did one once that went to a shrine and some gardens ,and I think a tea ceremony. You got the feel in a short time. It was near to the airport.

There should be someone on a desk at the airport that speaks English.

I personally wouldn't try and do anything in such a short time on my own

You may be able to catch a bus to a hotel in Narita and organise a tour there. It was years ago but we were at the Holiday Inn.

I have been back since and the only other suggestion, is take the bus into Shinjuku station, walk around there and catch the bus back. But allow plenty of time.Narita is a better option.

  2. Go to the arcade and have some fun :)

  3. Stay the airport terminal. Never go out from there to go to Tokyo. It is not good idea to do so for first timer having only 10 hours connecting time. Terminal has shopping arcade and restaurants. You don't need to speak complicated Japanese there.

  4. Keep in mind- tho narita is a part of tokyo, it is not really "down town" tokyo. so if you wanted to stay local, try to explore the local town of narita.

    hoestly stay in the airport.

  5. The airport is about 60 minutes by train from the edge of Tokyo proper, and 90 minutes by train from the most interesting areas (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku).  Make sure you leave enough time to get there and back well in advance of your flight.  With a 10 hour stopover it's doable to spend a few hours in Tokyo itself - I would recommend you go directly to Shinjuku and explore that neighborhood, and not try to go around the city seeing other sights.  It's also possible to go to the town of Narita, which is where the airport is.

  6. Narita, the town near the airport, is quite a nice place to visit.

You can do some shopping, visit a temple and have a nice meal without going too far from Narita Airport.

  7. U will spend all day trying to figure out why everybody looks the same......
