We will be going on a Disney cruise this summer and I just wanted to know if there was anything you might suggest to do to make the experience better. We would like suggestions on anything, what to do at Nassau or Castaway Cay, what to do on the ship, what to do before or after the cruise, what to bring, what to buy as souvenirs, etc. Thank you for helping! :)

  1. Cruises are GREAT!!! especially Disney! Ummm as for Nassau i would totally go to the beach and Atlantis...the giant cool hotel. There is a very cool aquirium in the hotel thats free. its very cool. As for what to buy its all up to what you want. We always like to get something to remember it like a key chain or something. And for the ship there is soo much to do. There are places for the kids, teens and certain areas just for adults. The dining is very cool too. They do rotational dining and the staff is super nice.  As for clothing, shorts, T-shirts, Kapris etc. deffinatly swimming aparel and just anything for a warm sunny vacation. Also they show new movies by the pool! Have a good time!!

  2. On the ship there will be pools and hot tubs, a gym, lounges, movies, etc.  Plenty to do.  The Castaway Cay id Disney's private island that has a wealth of water sports activities liek snorkel, the water trikes, etc. The best I can give you is some packing tip based on my many cruises:

Always pack your passport and cruise documents in your carry on bag ONLY. Also, if you plan to get into the pools or hot tub as soon as you get on ship (they will be open), bring those clothes in your carry on bag; you other luggage may not get to your cabin until much later in the afternoon.

The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM, so take:

    -swim wear (at least 2),

    -shorts, tank tops and "T's"

    -sandals, beach shoes, flip-flops

-your snorkel equipment if you have it,

-sun glasses and sun screen, and lotions,

-a cap or big hat for the sun,

-a book if you are a reader,

    -your music player,

-sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym,

    -good walking shoes,

    -your camera, and

-other personal toiletries including tooth paste, mouth wash or lotions.

Your cabin will have towels and soap provided, including pool and beach towels, and a hair dryer. It will also have a generic hair shampoo so you do not need to bring that unless you like a specific brand.

After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports or resort casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, (like a bank employee), shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc. Don't over pack , take clothes that you can mix and match tops and bottoms and plan to wear each piece twice. If you are going to the Caribbean you will likely be in shorts and/or swim wear most of every day so evening clothes don't usually get much wear.

Your cruise will have a formal night or two when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. You will not be denied entry to the main dining room if you decide not to dress up, as long as you are at least sports casual. But many people do dress up. A gown or party dress for women and a suit or tux for men, and kids in Sunday church kinda clothes.

    - Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage.

    - Pack using the vacuum clothing bags (about $20 for 3 at Target) so that you can get more in your bag AND so that if the TSA at the airport opens your bag they can see what's inside without rummaging through your things.

-Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in.

    - If you are taking your cell phone, MP3 player or other item that needs to be plugged in take an extension cord as the plugs in the cabin are generally not in the best places and there are usually only one or two.

    - Take a small bottle of hand sanitizer and/or hand-wipes. There are generally sanitizer dispensers at the entrances of restaurants, the buffets and dining room, but some times the are not there or not working. The sanitizer helps prevent the spread of the Norwalk Virus that sometimes occur on cruise ships.

    - Take a can of air freshener for your cabin bathroom. The bathrooms do not have exhaust fans.

    - Take a few zip lock bags of various sizes; they always come in handy.

    - If you think you may get sea sick (you more than likely WILL NOT) take some ginger candy or cookies along; otherwise get a patch or medicine from your doctor. But you are not likely to get sea sick because the ships have automatic stabilizers to minimize motion.

    - Take some one dollar bills (also maybe a few $5's) for tipping the porters in the airport, at the pier (they do not work for the ship), and they will come in handy in port stops for buying small items at the markets in the Bahamas and at vendor stands; especially bartering places.

People who go to the Bahamas usually bring back straw hats and baskets and similarly made things, plus wood carvings.  Many vendors will be pushy because that's their livelihood, but don't be pushed into buying anything you do not want..  A rule of thumb is look at all of the stuff in the market but DO NOT pick up anything you do not plan to buy.  Once you pick up something to examine it they figure you are "on the hook".

  3. The Disney Cruise is amazing!!!!

On the ship you have many activities to do during the day: Character meetings, different activities for the kids, DON'T miss any of the shows, they are awesome, make sure you get back on the ship to see them! When you board go to Guest Services and see if you can make a reservation for the italian restaurant Palo (which is not on the dinner rotation) and its only for adults. For the Pirates in the Caribbean party you can put on a custome, real fun! And take your formal wear for the last night dinner.

On Nassau we did a little sightseeing in the morning, came back to the ship for lunch, then we took a water taxi to Paradise Island, where the famous Atlantis Hotel is. They have 2 aquariums which costs around $35 and you get to walk all around the hotel pool areas and beach, and its wonderful. If you want to use the pools and waterslides you have to pay a little extra. You can do shopping in Nassau because its tax free!

Castaway Cay is beautiful, you can do many activities, most of them are really expensive (you get all the information on activities on the package you receive), but we did snorkeling and it was $25 and we saw that underwater Mickey statue, very cool! Make sure you bring a waterproof disposable camera!

This was a great vacation! I´m sure you will enjoy it. The thing is just to plan out right all the day´s activities so you can make to most of it.

  4. I went on the Disney Cruise about a month ago(: In Nassau its pretty much shopping heaven. Theres discount store that has cheap coach, chanel, LV, ect. purses and bags. theres also a store that has 3 shirts for 15.00 (i think...lol) theres also Atlantis. It has a waterpark there. My friend went there and liked it. okay, its not underwater. I learned that when I was there. hahahaha.(: In Castway Cay, its a 'beach day.' I loved it there. The water is really blue too. My family went to the stingray thing and liked it. I strongly recommend the snorkeling. Its alot of fun and the fish are really cool! and its great excrise (: On the boat, It depends how old you are. Supervised youth activities are available on the ship from 9:00 a.m. to midnight for children ages 3-12. Children must be age 3 or older and toilet-trained in order to participate. Parents sign their children (ages 3-12) in and out of activities and are provided pagers so they can keep in touch. Events have been designed for teens as well, ages 13-17. Teens do not need to be signed in and out by parents. There is no additional charge for these planned events. Teens have the Aloft or The Shack.(depending on whice boat) Both The Stack and Aloft have big-screen plasma TVs, a lounge area, dance floor and Internet café. Teens have plenty of freedom on a Disney cruise under the watchful eyes of trained counselors. Teens can see "What's Happening Today" in the teen edition of the Personal Navigator. There are teen-only excursions and a teen-only beach on Castaway Cay.  At Night, they have shows like The Golden Mickeys, Toy Story The Musical,& more. SEE TOY STORY! its amazing!  Disney Dreams... An Enchanted Classic is amazing too. Theres also bars, pool, and more for adults.Theres also movies. Theres movies like, College Road Trip. and stuff like that. You should bring some 'dressy' clothes(polos, skirts, dresses, ect) for dinners. Characters are also on the boat. (peter pan, wendy, mickey & the gang, ect.) They have a sports deck that has basketball, soccer, ect. They also have shuffel borad, ping pong, and a running track. They even have a game acrade. They have a spa (you have to be 18+) and a Fitness center. They have your photos taken at castaway cay and you can see that at the Photo Center place. lol. Theres even two gift shops. Dont go there after the shows, its really crowed. Dont use your phone unless you have too. (: Trust me, Im an addictied texter and I had to turn my off, aka, it was a good break. (:

Disney Cruises are amazing. Have Fun ! (:

  5. We went on a Disney cruise last year with our family and it was the BEST vacation we ever had! There is sooooo much to do on board for all ages. The pools are really nice and one thing you will notice about the ship is how completely spotless it is! Definitely go to the shows every night-they are awsome and worth every minute! The Pirates In The Carribean party is a lot of fun, as is the send--off party on deck the 1st night. We did not care for Nassau too much because right when we got off the ship, we were "attacked" by locals trying to get us to rent a horse carriage, have our girls' hair done, etc... So it made me a bit uncomfortable. And it was sort of run-down. But Castaway Cay was really fun! You feel like you have just landed on some deserted island and are a character in a story! You can sign up for activities to do on the island while on the ship. We did bike-riding which was fun because you can take a self-guided tour of the island. We also did the banana boat ride. There are lots of things for the kids to do too, and the lunch buffet is great! You will have a fabulous time I am sure! We can't wait to go again.

  6. First and foremost stay close to family members and think safety at all times, and most of all just have good, clean fun. enjoy your cruise.
