If Audley End is in Essex, go there, entry fee decided by English Heritage who keep the historical building and its surrounds, has a Romanesque temple ruins area within its grounds, a family farm and vegetable garden and Chinese style bridge over the small river, capability brown designed part of the remaining building, has its own chapel, went with school as part of assignment many yrs ago, someone touched the 200 odd yr old silk wallpaper whilst the wardens were NOT watching, has a cafe de riguer, for the children its fun to get them to guess the size of the ladies' gowns according to the chaise lounges left behind in pristine condition.
