I am showing my french wife abit of our country. We are travelling up the East Coast of Australia but Ive not ever been beyond Frazer Island and meeting up with my mate in Townsville. Is there anything worth seeing in this part of coastal Queensland. Please share your experiences and offer any advise..cheers

  1. Australia Zoo in Beerwah is near Noosa, blackdown national park near Rockhampton, billabong sanctuary near townsville, great barrier reef trips/snorkelling/diving all along the coast. Get hold of a copy of lonely planets "Australia". It was one of my best buys when I travelled australia!

  2. Hmmmm, there is a lot of nothing on that trip.  1770 is nice and the trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at airlie beach, Mackay is worth a look around.  Whenever we've driven up that way we just tend to stop at random waterfalls and rivers to check them out and usually find lots of beautiful pockets to see - can't remember the specifics.  To be honest though I'd spend a shorter time getting up there and a longer time exploring around and further north of townsville which is when it starts getting a lot more interesting.  (Sorry to all the people that live in between, but it's true!)
