  1. Read, read, and read some more. Where better to learn more about the English langage than to read it?

And I would recommend reading the classics, not the latest celebrity book, or expose on  politicians, etc.

  2. If you want to improve your hearing power, watch lots of English movies. Know first your kind of film(Action/Comedy/Romance) and watch the ones you like. Unconsciously you'll pick lots of words.

But if you want to improve your writing, then better start reading stories or novels. If you are one of those kind who don't like reading then start with graphics novels, or children's/teenager's storybook or novels(abridged).

I've been there and done that so I know. It might take a long time but have some patience and hopefully you will start showing results within two months. (And two months only when you are spending just 2-3 hours of reading novels or stories).

  3. Read an English book like Harry Potter or watch a series of an English TV show, something like peep show and after a while you will pick it up.

Out of interest what do you need it for?

  4. There is only one thing to do. Read voraciousely. Don't exercise any preferences like Harry Potter alone or Dan Brown's novels, as you'll get stuck in a particular fashion. Read all - Cherles Dickens, D.H.Lawrence, Salman Rushdie and V.S.Naipaul. I recommend old masters like Thomas Hardy, Aldous Huxley, Bertrand Russel, Erle Stanly Gardner, Agatha Cristie, Mark Twain & P.G.Wodehouse. As far a spossible don't stick to translations (Victor Hugo, Franz Kafka, Leo Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Aleksander Solzhenytsin types).

Lastly, religiousely read a good newspaper daily, but avoid the one that sensationalises the issue. A bad newspaper will not only spoil your style but affects your 'presentation' (of the stuff you want to say) method.

  5. Well you could take elocution lessons. you can be taught to speak with a classic English accent with no hint of dialect. look up Elocution lessons on the web see what comes up.

  6. Two simple things, just do them regularly and within a week you will notice the change, trust me it worked for me.

1.Read the newspaper everyday.every page, finish atleast one article completely every time. Gothrough every section period

2.Try to watch only english channels can be news, movies or any programme of your intrest. eg.BBC,CNN,StarWorld,HBO.etc
