What to do to keep an eight year old boy entertained while shopping?

I am coming home from a trip by car and the family i am with is stopping at the outlet mall on the way, but their son, who is eight, hates to shop. Everyone else wants to spend a lot of time there, but how do we keep him entertained? Any help? PLEASE!

Have you got a digital camera? Take him for a photo-scavenger hunt. The theme will depend on his interests. Finding all the numbers from 1 to 50, in order, for example. Or see how many different licence plates you can find, then print them out when you get home like a show in a gallery.

let him take pictures out the window, using your cell phone. When home you can delete.

Take him someplace fun for an 8yo boy to shop. ie toy store, sports store, hooters.

Trust me all 8yo boys love hooters!

Bring a book, activity book, small portable game/dvd player/gameboy, comic book or something that he can play with to keep himself entertained.

Why should they have to entertain him to begin with?  He should be disciplined enough to be able to go to an outlet mall without everyone else worrying about him being entertained. If not then they shouldn't have planned the outlet mall as part of the trip, or if they just HAD to make the outlet mall a part of the trip they should have left him at home to begin with.  It's a little late now to expect a non-disciplined child to be disciplined.

make a list of stuff you need and make it into a scavenger hunt and he can win something liike candy as a prize......

Ask the young man what he'd like to do while his family is in the store shopping? And whatever it is, go do it! Like Chunky cheese places,like in the mall, let him play in the balls!
