  1. the service may seem slow because generally french restaurants expect their customers to eat slowly and enjoy their food. other than that, it is similar to an american restaurant.  Some common dishes include:

-les escargots (pronouned lez-es-car-go) which is snails

-croque-monsieur (crock-mon-syour) which is like a grilled, open-faced ham and cheese sandwich

-sandwich au jambon (ham sandwich) - (san-weech-aw-sham-bone)

    -sandwich au fromage (cheese sandwich)-(fro-mash)

-crepes- sweet dough, almost like thin pancakes, with various toppings including nutelle (hazelnut&chocolate spread) (pronounced krehps)

    - steak frites, which is steak and fries (steak free-tahs)

    common drinks:

-eau minerale, mineral water (ee-u-min-eyre-al as in albert)

    - coca, coke (co-ka)

    - cafe, coffee (kah-fay)

    - chocolat, hot chocolate (chalk-oh-lot)

    - citron presse, lemonade (si-tron pressa)

    - limonade, lemon soda (lee-mohn-ahde)

Servers should be adressed as monsieur for men (mohn-seyour), madame for older women (mah-dahm), and mademoiselle for young women (mad-moo-zell)

    also know:

    s'il vous plait -please (see-vu-play)

    merci- thank you (mair-see)

    l'addition- check/bill (lah-di-see-own)

the easiest way 2 order is to name the dish and add s'il vous plait after because it is polite. Ex: croque-monsieur s'il vous plait
