I am going to be a senior this year I'm about 5'9 165 pounds and am interested in running track in the winter but only in short distances because i dont really have the stamina for long distance runs...i was wondering if anyone had any good workout plans for me to get into shape for running in events.

  1. I'm guessing you're doing events under 1 mile?

The training for them is all the same rotate on a 3 day schedule, just keep doing this regiment over and over.

I run the 400 and 800m and personally use this

    Day1: 10 100m repeats, 6 200m repeats, 2 400m repeats (reduce numbers for first outing.)

    day2: 4km jog

day 3: Repeatedly run up the biggest hill you can find.

  2. run everyday to build up. try doing some sit-ups, push-ups and other cardio workouts. run about a mile then go for two when you think you are ready for it. keep yourself going and know that every step you take brings you closer to your goal and helps you by that much more.

i highly reccomend running as a sport. it's very bonding and soo fun. you make a lot of great friendships and it's really awesome.

    hope i helped!

    :)
