I am flying by Southwest tomorrow, and this is my first time flying by Southwest. I usually fly by other carriers, but this time, Southwest was drastically cheaper. I want to get a window seat. I'm in Boarding Group A, Position 38. So, what do I do when i get to the gate? Is it first come first serve when standing in line for group A?

  1. There is now a number and letter system. no longer first come first serve.  If you travel with family or are physically hurt , you can pre-board.

  2. You will see area's under boarding group A

    A 1-25

    A 26-50   - etc

So when they start lining up - just get where  your A 38 group is. You have a good chance to get a windo seat

  3. Sit down and relax! You have your spot in line reserved for you, so there's no need to camp out on the floor. The operations agent will make an announcement when it's time to board, and you'll see the signage in the gate area and how to do it. You'll be on the 31-60 side, and you'll stand in line where it says "36-40." Once you get onboard, pick your favorite seat and enjoy your flight!
