My son refuses to go to the potty, he saids he needs to be bigger. He knows when he is wet and poopy, he ask us to change him, infact if he is wet he will change himself. I have tried almost every trick. The doctor has even told him he need to usec the potty. I really want him to beable to start headstart next month, but won't be able to if not potty trained. I have 2 other children who are 20 months and six months, plus we just moved to Michigan from Utah. This is a change for him.

  1. toilets are generally one size.  you may need to slow down and let his body mature.  quit fighting him.  he'll be ready for head start soon enough.  till then, love him.

  2. embarrassment works every time. tell him kids are going to make fun of him and laugh. it will get him into shape.

  3. I know it will sound harsh, but instead of changing him let him sit in it for a while. And if he says mommy I pooped make him change and clean up him self. And then tell him that if he goes potty he wont have to sit in it or change him self..

Have you tried bribing him with candy or money. This worked for my daughters, but my son was like your son

  4. If he tells you "Mommy, I pooped", tell him "No. We've been through potty training." Maybe if he has to stew in it for awhile he will want to use the toilet. Do not allow him to have diapers any more--only get him underwear and put your younger childrens' diapers out of his reach.
