What to do when supervisor makes inappropriate comments?

Comments such as "do you want to take off your jacket your shirt is a cardigan and --- we women may sweat...."

Other comments: "you're losing weight. Keep it up."

"that dress is nice you should buy all of your clothes where you bought that."

This person was not born in the United States and is older than the person they supervise. This supervisor would NOT take kindly at being told "those comments offend me please don't make comments like that again." What's the solution? Grit your teeth and ignore it. The message in the pipe is this person won't supervise the person they made the comments for long but how would you deal with it? The fact that they made the comments in the first place shows they have zero sensitivity or tact.

This sounds like culteral ignorance...  

You could pipe up or say.. you know your comment really offended me.. try being honest.  If are not willing to do this.. then it's YOUR PROBLEM..

It sounds to me like she means well. Sounds like you have some other inner reason for not liking her. Perhaps you are a closet racist?

I would probably just grit my teeth and ignore it because shes the supervisor.  If you make an issue about it, then you will likely offend her and have new problems at work.

I would probably be tempted to give her a dose of her own medicine though.  For example when she told you that you should get all your clothes at the one store I might have said something like 'that sounds like a plan maybe you should try that place too.."

well remember it's how you present it! not what you say so much!

next time he makes a comment like that ask him!  What do you mean by that? do you mean my other clothing sucks or do you think i look nice today?
