What to do when the lamp on my DLP tv burns out?

I own a JVC big screen tv, about 56". I believe it's a DLP. There's a message popping up that says the lamp needs to be change soon. So I'm guessing I have to go buy the lamp at a pc Richards or a Circuit city. But how am I going to replace it? Does someone need to come over and replace it for me? How does that really work?

  1. Check the User manual

It will tell you exactly what bulb to buy and whether you can change it yourself or you need to call service.  If you can change it yourself, there should be an easy to get "door" either in the front or back.
