What to do when the white center comes off of a canker sore?

i have a canker sore on the inside of my bottom lip. tonight after i brushed my teeth, when i wiped my mouth with the towel, the white center of the canker sore came off and now its just a hole. im wondering if there is anything that can ooze out of that hole now thats harmful. i've gotten these before, but never had the center come off completely. they usually just heal on their own. i'm also wondering if it can get infected with bacteria now that its open? it almost feels now like its closing up a little, b/c when it first happened all i could feel was that big hole when my tongue ran across it. sorry for all the gross details....just wondering what to do? • Rincinol P.R.N. by John O. Butler

• Orajel—Mouth Sore Medicine Gel or Discs by Orajel Co.

• Available over the counter at most pharmacies.

• If the lesion does not heal in 10-14 days please call for an appointment to have it checked.

If it just sloughed off...it would have anyway.....ouch....try the Zilactin or Orabase....they are like an oral bandaid and protect it with a gel that keeps it protected....good luck.....

I would rinse my mouth out with either salt water or listerine.  That would be the equivalent to cleaning an open sore with alcohol or peroxide.
