What to do when washing dark clothes?

I am using an Inglis washer, and i'm trying to wash dark clothing. How long, how hot, and how much should I put in the washer? Should I put them in for the medium time, or longest/shortest? Should I start it at hot? At the moment I have about halfway filled the washer with dark clothing. Please help me out quickly. Thanks so much!

wash in cold, rinse in cold. the colors will run/fade otherwise.

cold water.  In fact with today's detergents you can do cold water even for whites.  I wash nearly everything in cold.  It saves energy which means saves money and the planet.

You should always wash darks in COLD water only.
