What to do when you lose your train tickets?

I'm travelling tomorrow and I've just realised I can't find my train tickets that I bought in advance.

Am I going to have to buy a new ticket or will I be able to get by with the email travel confirmations?

  1. You will have to buy a new ticket I'm afraid as rail companies do not replace lost tickets

  2. call the office immedietly, or any number they gave you.

  3. If you bought it on the credit card you may be able to do something. But I know that if you bought it by cash then you will have to buy a new ticket as that is what happened to me before Christmas, and my ticket was bought by my company so I claimed it  back, but it still meant that I was out of pocket for a month.

  4. Cry.!!

  5. if you are travelling in the UK you will have to purchase a new ticket unfortunately, I'm afraid an e-mail confirmation does not mean anything as you could have got this off anyone, and does not prove you have purchased a ticket sorry. The only plus side is if you have paid for your ticket by credit card then u may be able to claim on your insurance

  6. Barry salter is correct i too work on the railway

  7. If you have a confirmation or booking reference number on the email, you shoud be able to get replacements easily enough

  8. Hope it's not GNER as no ticket, you don't get on Good luck!

  9. If it's amtrak they will overnight you tickets. Just call them

  10. You'll need to buy a new ticket, as per Condition 24 of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage: "A ticket is your evidence of your right to make a rail journey and it is your responsibility to keep it safe. If you lose or mislay a ticket or a Smartcard or it is stolen, it will not be replaced nor will any of the cost be refunded."

Having said that, if you *do* purchase another ticket and subsequently locate the ones you purchased originally, you *should* be able to claim a refund.
