What to do when your child suddenly will not go to bed at night?

My daughter will be two at the end of August. For the past week or so she has not been going to sleep when we lay her in the crib. We'll lay her down, give her "buddies" to her, cover her up and put on some music for her like we do every other night, but as soon as we walk out of the room she starts screaming "Mommy or Daddy". She became a big sister 3 1/2 months ago and I really don't think it has anything to do with that...or does it? HELP!!! I am at a loss right now.

  1. Whether it is the sibling or not, she obviously needs you so I would suggest starting with some cuddles and try and get out of her what she needs to go to sleep. It is probably just reassurance and a few nights with extra attention before bedtime and she'll be back to her usual routine. Good luck.

  2. It has everything to do with that baby. She sees the baby crying and getting attention, so she's doing the same thing. Keep doing your routine, but only check on her once when she screams...tell her that you are going to bed too, and she needs to be quiet.

  3. give her a tylenol for nighttime and itll make her drowsy. but since shes young cut it in half.

  4. Don't give in!! Toddlers, especially 2-year-olds, just LOVE to test your limits and push your buttons. They want to see exactly how much you'll take. If having a set bedtime is something that's important to you, stick with it and make her go to sleep. If that means closing the door and covering your ears, so be it. I remember once sitting at the edge of my daughter's bed until 3am. It wasn't fun. But eventually, they do grow out of it and if you start enforcing it now, they'll grow out of it much quicker.

  5. let the kid stand next to its bed all night. dont let it nap the next day, this will last a couple of nights before the kid decides that it doesnt want its life to be h**l.

or just tell the kid that its easier for the aliens to find it when its awake.

  6. A girl I babysit started doing that so I put her in her brother's bed and put some pillows around her so she felt more like a "big girl" and she went right to sleep.

  7. shes in crib i would give her a bit of milk and cookie and lay her down and say good nite. cover her up and walk out and close the door. its hard for abit but only should take less then week and she'll learn shes not ocming out of htere going to bed that is what she needs and same time every nite.
