  1. Take some tobacco out of a cigarette and soak it in water, place it over the sting and press....its strange, but it works.

  2. I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one. Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about things like meat tenderizer, tobacco, baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a couple of days

I have had stings itch and be sore for as little as a few minuets or as long as a weak

  3. Place an ice cube on the skin to keep the swelling and pain down. Put the ice cube on the area for 3 minutes, and remove it for 3 minutes. Repeat this step 3 times. You can make a paste out of water and baking soda. Put the paste on the sting for comfort.

You can easily make a compress by taking a clean washcloth and running it over cool water. Apply the compress to the sting to comfort the itching and soreness.

You can calm the itch by putting calamine lotion on the sting or soak the area in a bath prepared with powdered oatmeal, such as Aveeno.

You can expect to develop an inch or two of swelling around the area. Elevate the area where you have been stung to reduce the swelling and soreness.

Swelling may continue for up to 24 hours and the pain usually goes away after a few hours.

  4. three things ice, ice, and ice, and do not scratch.

  5. Make sure all of the stinger is out. A credit card or any plastic card will do. Wipe with alcohol. If you continue to have pain, see your doctor.
