Question:

What to do with my new short hair?

I just got my hair relaxed, but I find it a little bit short(It just touches my shoulders),and it's wavy/curly. I really don't like the way my hair looks when it's down. I'm positive that I'd like it better longer. I don't want to get extensions or anything. So what else can I do with my hair, except put it in a boring ponytail? Thanks in advance.

  2. Hmm, my hair (before I chopped off all the perm to go natural) was a bit past shoulder length in the front and much longer in the back and I considered it long, but I guess length is in the eye of the beholder. I opened this page thinking it was going to be 3-4 inches of hair, lol.

I've been both permed and natural, and if you're hair is still wavy/curly then it's possible your perm didn't completely straighten your hair. There is something some women with "natural" hair will do and it's called a texturizer, which is basically a low-grade perm. They put it in their hair for a shorter amount of time so that it doesn't fully straighten their hair, but what it will do is loosen their curl pattern to make their hair/curls easier to manage. It sounds like your perm did not completely take. If you only loosened your curl pattern with the perm you might want to consult a hair dresser to see how you can get your hair straighter. I don't know if you can reperm those ends, since, technically, they have already been chemically processed.

Are you able to hot curl your hair or style it with rollers? There are flat twists, cute braids, buns, up do's, flat twist or braid the front and leave the back curly/wavy. There are so many styles you can try that you can do so you should experiment with your hair. Let your imagination come to life. Buy cute hair accessories and play around. You can also try twist outs and braid outs, but you've already said you don't like the wavy look. Your other option is to blow out or flat iron. But remember that too much heat can permanently damage your hair. Embrace the natural you and maybe some day you'll see you're natural hair texture for what it is - beautiful - and won't run away from it. Good luck.
