Question:

What to do with my tired cat? (vomiting and growling)?

My cat is 1.5 years old, she has 2 months old kittens. This morning she was vomiting a lott, and sitting aside on a corner. If any of her kittens would come near her she'd growl at them and sometimes even hits them and runs away or untill they run away. She also did that when my mum tried to pick her up. I took her slowly, put her on my lap and whenever I tried putting my hand on her stomach she'd growl, I think that's why she doesn't want her kittens near since they're breastfeeding, they're pressuring it. What could I do, in my country there's no such thing as an emergency vet? Is there like any home remedy or if someone had a similar case, what did the vet tell them???

  1. sounds like a fur ball stuck in the gut makes em really pissed off take him/her to a vet please i dont know any home remidies .

  2. cant you just take it to a vet when you get teh chance. Its sick, if you dont want to take the cat to teh vet i would recomend atleast calling one and telling them about teh symptons your cat has and what they suggest.

  3. Call the vet and take her in as soon as they're open.

At 8 weeks old the kittens should be weaned to solid food so they don't need to disturb the mum for breast milk, so place her and the kittens in a different room.  Make sure both have plenty of water available.

  4. U can feed them from a bottle or give them dried food

  5. Take your cat into a emergency vet clinic if a regular vet is closed right now!!!!  Especially if she's breast feeding right now don't wait. She could of eaten something and if she feeds it the kittens it could make them sick or kill them.

  6. at 8 weeks, they should weaned. or, nursing very little. i would not worry about her belting the kittens, that is called weaning. some moms are just more forceful then others,.

i had a cat once that would wean in one day. belt the kitten so hard it would do 360's across the floor. kitten never tried to nurse again.

the vomiting is a problem though.

have someone put cat on its side, grab a fist full of the cats hide, at the back of the neck, place a heavy towel on the front paws, hold towel in place with other hand. to restrain cat.

now you carefully feel her stomach and b*****s. if the b*****s hurt, i would guess it is normal. they hurt if she does not wean soon enough. kittens get teeth.

if it hurts when you touch her stomach, she needs a vet.

be sure to get out of the way before cat is released the other person must release both hands and back up quick

and watch the hind feet. not very effective in this position, but still deadly if you get close enough.

  7. What have you fed her lately? Did she have milk? Have you had your house sprayed (pest control)?  Is she sitting in a little "bun"? Is she urinating allot too?  Has she been eating and drinking? Can you check her gums? will she let you?  Check them to see if they are a nice pink color- if they are white she's "crashing" which is renal failure- Does she have hair balls?  Is the bile that she's throwing up yellow?  Just try to get the kittens food-wet food is best for them- no milk- and the reason I asked about milk is cause some cats are lactose intolerant and it upsets their tummies- also if you've had your house sprayed then she may be having a reaction to the pesticides?  I ask about the "bun" because that's another sign of renal failure- cats will sit in a ball or bun while there are sick.  Will she eat- try feeding her some raw chicken or anything that is a little bloody-not pork though- raw is a cat's natural diet- it would be good for her right now cause she doesn't need to be eating the grains that are in commercial foods-cats do not have the enzymes to break down the grains and if she has a tummy ache then her natural diet is the best for her.  Give it to her as bloody as you can- she needs fluids - if she is vomiting she is probably dehydrating herself and fluids are so important- tuna juice maybe? anything that you can get her to drink- just not milk.
