What to do with our cat?

We had a cat for a while and it won't stop peeing on the floor. My dad has had enough of it and I don't know what to do, We had his front claws removed, so he can't be an outside cat, right? We can we do? We visited the vet and tried medicines and nothing works. I don't want to get rid of our baby but I don't know what else to do and my dad has had enough.

  1. If it's always in the same spot than you have to do some research on how to get the smell out of that spot.  Once they go in one spot they continue to because they have possibly smelt where another animal peed once.

  2. If I cut off the first digit of each of your fingers you'd probably do something worse than pee all over the place, so what do you expect.

  3. They have different sprays you can use that cats don't like and it will make them stay away or you could always do it the old fashioned may and spray it with a little water whenever it tries to pee on the floor. I know how much I love my kitties and I hope you can keep yours. : )

  4. How often do you scoop/clean the litter box? Most cats won't use their potty if it is not clean enough for them. We have 1 cat that will go in it no matter what, but the other, if it is not up to his idea of clean, we start to smell his leavings elsewhere... Also, possibly your cat doesn't like the type of litter you've been buying???  Best of Luck

  5. well you should train him...give him a kind of signal that shows peeing on the floor is wrong..but it requires patients...so im not sure if that will work

    good luck ;)

  6. idk

    potty train it

  7. well i have the same problem with my cat to well wat i do is i have a litter box in my room and food with water and everytime she pees out side the other litter box i put her in my room and i won't let her out for a while

  8. Whenever you see your cat drink or eat carry it to the litter box until it goes...

Also, whenever you see ur kitty squat to use the restroom on the carpet, pick him up and carry him quickly to the litter box.

Sprinkle the cat (don't drench it) with water and the cat will put together peeing and being sprayed with water and it will stop.

Clean it up quickly so the smell doesn't linger because the cat will think its is peeing place.

Try moving the litter box were the cat pees the most. After a while you can move it back.

Try putting the food with the litter box so right after it eats it can pee and p**p in the quickest area.

Hope i helped, if your dad STILL doesn't let u keep the little guy ;( then please take it to a no-kill shelter.

  9. We just got rid of our cat for the same reason, she stunk up the house with urinating on everything.

  10. Are there such things as cat diapers?

  11. My cat did the same, and was destructive in other ways as well.  After trying everything, I decided to euthanize her so that she wouldn't fall into the hands of owners who might abuse her.  Yes, it was hard--very hard--but it was the best possible solution.

  12. Reward your cat when it pees in the right place- keep it in a cage/playpen somewhere easy to clean up

  13. Send it to vietnam and they will cook it for you and send it back!

then it won't pee on the floor!!!!

    ---------------JKING------------------...

You should try putting the litter box in a more convenient place... and also line the floor with news paper for a little while and each day remove some the cat will get used to peeing on the paper and not pee anywhere else... then put the last sheet in the litter box and remover it... the litter box will be the only place that it will want to go to the bathroom.... and BTW make sure the litter box is NOT near the bed.... cats HATE to be near there waste...

  14. So it won't go in the litter box? I think they have a cleaning spray that leaves a scent when you use it. If the cat goes back to that spot, it won't want to go in that area. It's worth a shot.

  15. if this starting to happen after the claws were removed then your cat is pissed off about it

his paws are probably still in pain

  16. You could try taking it to a no-kill shelter.  They might be able to find a home for the cat where the people won't mind the peeing.  If they don't, at least they won't put your cat down.

  17. give it to me

  18. try Depends undergarments?????

  19. It might sound ridiculous, but... cat diapers. Just buy some regular baby diapers and stick one on a cat. If you don't want to do that, make a little pen for him somewhere and layer it very thickly with newspaper.

  20. if you had your fingernails ripped painfully from your body, you'd probably pee on the floor too. Getting your cat de-clawed is cruel and very painful to the cat. It wouldn't surprise me if that isn't related to the pee problem.

  21. 1 day he pee on the floor out him outside he wont pee no more

  22. let see, you can hit your cat LIGHTLY or SCARE IT in a way that you dont hurt it so it will learn.

  23. toilet train the cat.  Didn't you ever see the movie, "Meet the Parents"

    you know, jinxy the cat.

  24. potty train your cat! :D

  25. Hm. Maybe if there are other animals in the house, it is making the cat territorial? Maybe the cat isn't getting enough attention. It could even be something wrong with its bladder. Some times you could even try some disciplinary actions?

  26. I have a cat that is declawed and it has nothing to do with whether or not they will go to the litter box. There are a few things that you can do in order to correct the litter box problem. 1. keep some old stool from the cat in the litter box. I know it sounds gross, but the smell will be a reminder that it is where they do their business. 2. the places that the cat is going on the floor, put some duck tape down. Cat's hate that sticky feeling on their feet. 3. Buy some spray that will remove the smell from the carpet and spray on the floor. 4. Anytime you see your cat start to go where it isn't try to grab it and put it in the litter box. Then lock it in the bathroom and force it to go in the litter box. It may take a few minutes but it will go. 5. If all else fails, I bought a very large cage to put my cat in. It had a litter box, food/water, and a bed. I put my cat in there when I was not home and then took it out when I got back. I hope that this helps. I also let my declawed cat outside. I live in a very safe neighborhood with no dogs around. So my cat can roam around safely. P.S. She is 10 years old.

  27. I volunteer at a cat shelter and this is the most common reason that people dump their declawed cats. I also have a rescue cat that was declawed before I got her. It is your own fault that he is doing this because he was declawed. The last knuckle of his "hands" were cut off and now it is uncomfortable for to him dig around in a litter box. Your family made the mistake of having his toes cut off and now he is the one that will pay the price. Try finding a finer grain litter for his box or switch to something soft. he needs love, understanding, consideration for his condition, and a little bit of training.

This is one of the reasons (besides it hurting the cat) that I tell people to seek out alternatives to declawing.

  28. I wouldn't be surprised if declawing is the reason for this.

Clean the area thoroughly, don't use cleansers with ammonia in them.

The floor needs to be cleaned well enough so that even the cat can't smell it any more.

Get a litter that is easier on what's left of his paws.  As someone said, pick something with a finer grain.  Try getting several litter boxes and offering different types of litter in each.  Clean the litter box frequently and don't use more than water and a little soap when washing it out, no harsh cleansers.

Try to explain to your father that it's not that the cat is trying to be bad.  Many cats have a tough time with the litter box when they've been declawed.  It hurts your cat to go in there, so of course he's avoiding it.  The cat needs patience and understanding.
