At work we use a paper shredder, enough to fill 1 large trash b ag a day, and often it just goes into the dumpster. Will the city recycle it? What should we do with the bags of remains? Noone has any use for it.

  1. Michele shredded paper will most likely end up as trash in land fill where it will decompose quickly.  It cannot be placed on curb for city to pick up.  With shredded paper the fibers are cut to short. making it hard to recycle.  Some recycle center will accept it.   I think you will be creating more pollution by trying to take it to recycle  center, where it will most likely go to land fill,  unless you drive electric car.

    Good Luck

  2. it should be put in the city's paper recycling container.  What a waste to just go in the dumpster

  3. Shredded paper can be recycled into new paper.  Call the local recycling centers to see who will take it.  They will come and pick it up but for your volume there will be a charge.

It is considered poor securiyt to give your paper to a pet store as you loose control of the material.

  4. When I was working in an office, I would take it home and put it in my mouse's cage in place of store bought litter. It worked quite well for them because they are accustomed to building nests, and this seemed to be great building material for them.  It never seem to bother them and it was free.

Of course everyone should ask their local pet store first.

  5. I use it on the farm as animal bedding, some farms around here have drop off bins but I live in a rural area.  And the city should accept it as recycle if they have a program set up
