Fortune cookie.  You crack them open, read your fortune, laugh, then eat the cookie, throw it away, or do what my grandparents do - save them for their dogs.

It's kind of funny...in China, they eat dogs.  In America, we feed our dogs their cookies.  =)

These things are called "fortune cookies" and are a unique American invention. No, they did NOT come from China! They folded a flat small round piece of sugar dough with a fortune inside into the shape you see when they baked the cookie. You break them open, remove the paper and read it. The cookie is really a flat sugar cookie which is shaped while it is warm and flexible. It hardens when it cools. Afterwards, you can eat the pieces for desert.
