What to do with this type of virus?

Question

When I open a folder the computer warns me saying Critical Error and Windows XP Corrupted then launches my internet browser leading me to this site: http://free-viruscan.com/id/4912933/4/1/. Can anyone please tell me what to do with this? kinda annoying.

i had the same thing a few weeks ago. here are what i did to remove it (it worked perfect) -

Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant... (mbam-setup.exe) and save it on your Desktop.

2. After downloading, double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

3. Follow the prompts and install as “default” only

4. Before the installation completes, check on the following prompts:

- Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

- Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

5. Click “Finish.” Program will run automatically and you will be prompted to update the program before doing a scan. Please update.

6. Scan your computer thoroughly (Full system scan).

7. When scanning is finished click on the “Show Results”

8. Make sure that all detected threats are marked, click on Remove Selected.

9. Restart your computer.

In the very unlikely chance that the spywatre is still there you could try and see this website for removal instructions and free tools to remove it - http://removal-tool.blogspot.com/2008/06...

Its a PC Virus. Do you have any Anti-Virus software?( Norton Anti virus, Macafee). If you do run a full scan with it and it might detect the virus and you can delete it.( Make sure the anti-virus is fully updated) Run some anti spy ware programs such as Spybot.

If this doesn't work then I'm afraid you'll have to format your PC.(Delete Everything) and re-install Windows Xp.

this is a virus and your computer needs an anti virus first try to download some free stuff from the internet like AVG FREE EDITION or if it is also infected with spyware try to download spyware terminator they are available for free just search on google and even if it not goes and u have some important data on your computer BUY an origional antivirus and if you donot have any imp data just format and reload your window
