Question:

What to eat/drink before running a 400m dash?

Tomorrow I'll be opening a 4x400 at my conference meet. In past meets, I usually eat a little bit before the meet and drink a gatorade throughout the meet. However, I find myself really hungry and was wondering what should I eat and how early before I run?

  1. umm eat bananas

    don't drink gatorade way beofre the meet since it has lots of sugar

    drink it after the race

    eat peanut-butter sandwich for lunch and eeat a fruit for breakfast \and eat pasta the day before


  2. Start with cereal or porridge in the morning for breakfast.

    If ur feeling hungry an energy bar or a banana is probably best.  If u want something to drink and u don't like plain water then lucasade or something is just as good.

Drink plenty of water in the days before a race.  Hydration is the most important part.  Make sure to get alot of sleep, at about the same time each night.  Eat a good meal in the morning, like cereal.  Make sure the keep a fairly good amount of food in your system during the day, but don't overload.  And the last time you eat any substantial amount of food is up to 2 hours before the race.  After that it is ok to eat small amounts, but dont eat too much.

  4. Bananas can actually be eaten right up to the run - tri atheletes  eat lots of bananas during their races.
