  1. lets cut a long story short if u cant do a over hand serve then u mite not want 2 try out. But im sure they can help u w/ tht.

  2. u might want to practice ur bumping and ur setting. and also ur overhand serving(since that is wat they r looking for) basically u will have to do drills with bumping and setting. u will most likely be playing pratice games to get ur postition and if u r good enough.

so i would work on that stuff and get good practice and get pumped and ready for ur tryouts..

good luck and hope u make the team!!!!

  3. Tryouts for a volleyball team will include some running, (coaches need to make sure the players are in shape) then serving, spiking, and digging, the major volleyball skills.\\

    good luck

  4. Heyy! you should definately try out!

The tryouts are full of different drills, depending on what the coaches like to do.  If you haven't played in two years, you may get tired quickly.. You should go to a few volleyball camps over the summer - honestly, if you go to good ones, they really help out a lot!! Also, since you haven't played in a while, try to decide what position you mainly would like to play, like right side, outside, middle, setter, libero, etc.. If your not really sure, it's no big deal.  It's just a lot easier to know what position you'd like to play so you know what to practice before the tryouts. Have fun and good luck if you decide to try out!!!

  5. you will need to practice bumping and serving..but you also need to be proud of the way you are.  Also you need to get in shape by running, because you will be doing that a lot.

  6. yes of corse still tryout

if you dont make it its no big deal so whats to lose

usually you have to do a mile run but if you dont get a great time they arnt going to not put you on the team just because of that.

they test you on  your serves, passes, setting, and hitting

also teamwork, they want people that work well with others

be really loud, like call the ball all the time

cheer on others and encourage them

hussel even if you cant get to the ball just dive to show effort.

    GOOD LUCK!

  7. you should tryout. at tryouts they will usally ask you what postion you would want to play. they do alot of the basic skill drills like serving, passing off of a serve or downball, setting-if you want to become a setter- and hitting off a toss or set. they also do fitness stuff to see if you have a high endurence. they have you run and do alot of conditioning stuff like line jumps, jump ropes, sit ups, push ups, planks, and jumping. to get ready for tryouts you should do pushups and situps everyday. run a few times around your neighbor hood would also help.  go to your local gym,  garage or backyard, get a friend that has some volleyball skills and practice the basics for a few hours. even if you dont make it, tryout next year,  find out if the gym has a volleyball program, or go to volleyball camps this summer to get better.

    good luck!!!!! :)

  8. The best thing you can do to prep for tryouts is go to open gyms or camps before the season even begins.....this gives you a chance to get back into the sport and it also gives the coaches a better look at you then just the three day tryouts. At these camps and open gyms work your butt off! this shows the coaches you dedicated and have a lot of heart, any coach would rather have a hardworking driven girl that may not be super good but shows potential then a girl that is good but is lazy!

But when you do go to tryouts try not to be nervous, just think of it as practice cause you'll play better if your not nervous and thats always good right?

things that the coaches at my highschool look for are

    1. Passing, Passing and more Passing

    2. Overhand serve is key

    3. Hitting approach and swing

    4. Setting(if your looking to be a setter)

    5. Blocking

    6. Vertical

    7. Endurance

    8. Speed

    9. Heart

    10. Hardworking

I hope you do tryout and just give it your all good luck!

  9. ummm first of all, may i say that i am in college playing volleyball. and i actually have had numerous tryouts from club to high school, to scouting.

umm i think that you should always persue your goal, but if you happen to not get aas high positioned aas u wish, u can only blame urself since u havent been practicing.

tryouts are not easy. im not saying all of them are, but the ones i have been to have been alot of conditioning. they want to see how much u can take and how well ur in shape. they make u do numerous sprints and drills that require qucikness. they also measure ur arm reach adn ur verticle (jump).

so keep practicing and i wish u the best of luck. =]

  10. you don't want to know I'm conditioning for volleyball  well a lot of running and wall jumps and alot more painful stuff but if u want if bad enough  u deal with it

  11. Volleyball is one of those rare sports where if your good, it doesn't matter what your body type is.  I played for four years- and many of the smaller girls were armatures compared to those of us who were not toothpicks.  I was captain senior year and I would take anyone who could play well, regardless of any stereotypical images of what volley players should look like.  So tryout- you will regret it if you don't.

At tryouts, make sure you have the  basics down- bump, set, spike.  Every player has strengths, but they need to know all aspects of the game.  Be able to pick up a serve or a spike, but on the flip side, you need to be a hitter and a server.

Prefect an over hand serve- underhand will not cut it.  The serve starts the game, so be able to get it over.  The faster and lower the serve is, the better.  We volleyball players love those Aces!

Drills will preformed to test your quickness of feet and passes- i.e how fast do you get to the ball and accurately you get it to the setter.  Make accurate passes that are to the setter and high enough for the setter to do her thing.  As a hitter, always be ready for a hit.  And if your not in the current play, still be ready- you never know when a bad pass will come your way.   Don't be afraid to dive on the floor- you may have drills on diving as well.

And just a little tidbit, never be flat footed.  Always be on the balls of your feet, ready to move at a moments notice.  I don't know how many times I was told that.

Also, remember to talk to your teammates on the court- "I got it" or "Mine."  Communication is essential and allows for a decrease in collisions when going after the ball.  In addition to that, have a good attitude and be a team player.  Coaches look for that as well.

My best advice is have fun and don't get down on yourself.  Volleyball isn't worth it if you can't enjoy it.  So try out and good luck.  If you have any other questions, you can e-mail me.

  12. Mainly everything would be tests. Hitting/blocking, passing and setting tests. endourace tests as well. it really depends on how seious of a program you are trying out for.

  13. i really think being loud is a big part of it.

do you know what position you are?

if your wanting to be a d.s. or libero make sure you hit the floor for everyball even if you think its impossible to save.

BE LOUD call the ball and you will stand out

  14. Be aggressive and call the ball (MINE!). Coaches LOVE this. The worst thing you can do is let the ball drop because of indeciseveness. If you get in someones way by being aggressive just say "My Bad" and shake it off. Expect the ball EVERY play. If you have a hard time getting to the ball, try to make sure you hit the ball up and high enough so other players can adjust and get to it. The rest will come from repetition and hard work. Good Luck!

  15. U should try out. there is nothing to lose. They look to see if u can pass the ball off serves and downballs. if u have good hands maybe u can set. In tryout they do lots of conditioning drills, diving drills, and passing drills. On most girls teams they look for great passing and defense.

    good luck.
