What to expect at the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix
at the Hungaroring circuit?
After an exhilarating and unpredictable 2011 German Grand Prix, Formula 1 is now headed towards Hungary on to a track which is very tight and twisty.
The Nurburgring was a very fast and technical track and it seems that this sudden change in pace is going to be very interesting for the fans and quite difficult to cope up with for the drivers.
The Hungarian Grand Prix is expected to take place at the Hungaroring and since the championship is getting very competitive now, the top running drivers are going to throw everything in order to obtain the best possible results for their respective teams.
Lewis Hamilton recently won the German Grand Prix and proved that McLaren still have the pace to compete alongside teams like Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. Other than that, this victory also brightened Hamilton’s chances of competing for the title in 2011.
Fernando Alonso on the other hand secured the victory at the British Grand Prix and finished in 2nd place at the Nurburgring. Mark Webber scored the 3rd place while the championship leader Sebastian Vettel scored the 4th
place.
The championship challengers are now getting closer to RBR’s pace and it seems that the race at the Hungaroring is going to be quite interesting and predicting what will happen this coming weekend exactly is quite difficult.
However, it is quite clear that McLaren, Ferrari and RBR are going to be very competitive this weekend and this time, even the qualifying session is going to be quite interesting as RBR might not be able to secure the pole position since both of their rivals
have improved their respective cars’ pace massively.
Other than that, Mercedes GP and Lotus Renault GP are also going to have a close competition in the mid-field and since Sauber are looking pretty strong as well, they also might compete for some healthy points at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Force India on the other hand are not so far behind either and they also have a pretty good chance of scoring some good points. However, a double point finish might not be possible for them this weekend since the track is quite tight and twisty where Renault
are very quick.
Keeping the race aside, the Hungarian Grand Prix is going to be a very interesting event this year as the 2009 Formula 1 world champion and current McLaren driver Jenson Button is going to make his 200th race start this weekend while the young
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg is going to make his 100th race start.
On top of that, this is also going to be the 100th race in the sport for V8 engines which are expected to be replaced by turbocharged V6 engines in the 2014 Formula 1 season.
Besides that, the Hungaroring reminds us of the incident that involved Felipe Massa during the 2009 Formula 1 season. Massa got into a near fatal accident during the qualifying session of the Hungarian Grand Prix after which he was unable to compete for
the rest of the season.
Let’s hope that the race this year turns out to be unpredictable and exciting as it has always been.
