What to expect at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix?
The 2011 Formula 1 season has been more like rollercoaster ride with Red Bull Racing Team sitting in the front seat consistently up until now followed by random challengers at each race.
At first it seemed that McLaren is going to be the only team that will challenge Red Bull at least until the beginning of the European phase of the season and Lotus Renault GP was looking quite competitive as well with 2 podium place finishes in the first
two races.
Since then, things have been changing quite randomly as the Turkish Grand Prix had quite an unpredictable result with Red Bull scoring its first 1-2 of the season followed by Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari in third.
Ferrari was looking very strong during the pre-season testing period but since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season, the team’s performance has deteriorated massively with the Spaniard starting from the 5th place on the grid in all 4 races
up until now which is not good at all for Ferrari.
Other than that, Mercedes GP is another team which is going through the same problem as they were looking pretty good statistically during the pre-season testing but since season opening race, they have not been able to score a single podium position this
season.
Michael Schumacher has been struggling to perform and it seems that his performance is not going to improve anytime soon as he is still finding it difficult to get used to the new rules. He has scored just 6 points up until now and it seems that he is not
going to be a threat for Red Bull Racing Team anytime soon.
On the other hand, his teammate Nico Rosberg is looking very competitive now since he scored the 5th place at the Turkish Grand Prix after starting from 3rd place on the grid. He even led the race for a considerable amount of time and
it seems that he is going to be one of the top drivers at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
The two McLaren drivers are looking competitive as well with both of them chasing the championship eagerly and since they are applying some upgrades to their car in Barcelona, one can expect anything from McLaren this weekend.
However, if their upgrades work perfectly, then Red Bull Racing Team is going to have a tough time at the upcoming race.
Ferrari seems to be stronger than it was before after they scored their first podium of the season and it seems that they are going to be more confident than they were since the beginning of this season.
Nevertheless, the 2 time world champion is going to be the only threat for Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber at Circuit de Catalunya as Felipe Massa has been struggling to perform as well up until now.
Lotus Renault GP is quite unpredictable this season as they have proved that they have the ability to challenge the top running teams this year. However, they have been scoring some disappointing results since the past two races so this race is going to
be important for them if they want to catch up with the top running teams.
The bottom line is, Red Bull Racing Team is going to be competitive as always yet again but this time, winning the race won’t be as easy as it was in Turkey.
