Question:

What to expect during G2 Road Test?

I have my G2 road test in 2 days, and I am nervous as h**l. I hadn't driven for about 5 months or so before I got back from vacation in the middle of July. Since then, I have driven about 4 times with a driving instructor to practice for my G2. I seem to do okay during these driving sessions, save for a couple of stupid mistakes (and I think I've learned from most of them).

I had trouble with changing lanes, since I would always slow down when doing so - but I seemed to do it correctly the last time I drove.

Parallel parking is also a bit of a problem. My old driving instructor taught me one way (which I got used to and which I found effective), but the new instructor I have now has taught me another way (which involves looking at my mirror rather than to look over my shoulder, and also turning the wheel a certain amount of times - twice to the right, and once to the left). I find this new way confusing and have yet to get used to it, but I'm trying. I'm also a bit anxious because I know I'll have to do parallel parking with pylons and I am not quite sure how to do that.

Other than things like this, and other small mistakes, my instructor says I'm a good driver.

I was wondering what I can expect during my road test? What kinds of things might the tester ask me to do? And if anyone has any tips at all for me, they're greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  1. Don't worry about it.  One of the worst things you can do is panic...   I guess what to expect kind of depends on where you are taking your test.  But in the end they are just looking to make sure you are a calm confident driver who understands the basics and pays attention.   I would suggest cruiseing around the area where you are getting tested prefererably in a car or even take the bus, just so you are aware of any difficult traffic situations like construction zones.
