What to expect from Carly Booth at the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open?
UNIQA Ladies Golf Open 2012 has been announced and major golf talent from all over the world will head to Austria for this tournament.
Carly Booth is one of the players who have confirmed their availability for the event. Would she be able to shine through in the presence of the top players of the world is a question that is asked by both fans and experts.
Carly Booth is a rising star in women golf. At the age of 20, she has managed to achieve two things that many amateur golfers of her age only dream about. She has turned pro and won two titles since 2009.
Her first win came in Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open presented by EventScotland. This was the greatest moment of Booth’s career.
She started the event on a great note. The first round was her best, in which she scored 70 points. In the later rounds, she scored 71 points and managed to win the event, despite the presence of the top players.
Her second win was equally dramatic. She played in the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open and won after a dramatic three way play-off. She ended the first round with 70 points.
She slipped a bit in the second round with a score of 71. Booth managed to recover her game and finished the event with a victory to her credit.
Booth was very excited after the win and her statement reflected that. After the match, she said, “I’m overwhelmed; speechless. I’m lost for words; so happy. It was tough. We birdied three out of three and I was thinking, someone’s going to have to eagle
to win this. I hit a perfect drive every time and then 5-iron onto the green to about 10 foot and just holed it so it was perfect”.
This kind of performance is a sure indicator of a top-ten or even a top-three finish in any tournament. Booth has the two ingredients that make a top notch star. She has both the youthful stamina and exposure to international golf under her belt.
However, many fans and experts worry that after the Swiss Open, Booth has not been playing her best. She played in two major events after that and the results were disappointing to her fans.
Her first major after the Swiss Open was Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters. The fans were expecting her to go for the top slots after her recent game.
She, however, failed to perform well in the event. She posted a lacklustre score of 217, which included ten birdies, seven bogeys and three double bogeys.
Still the fans and experts were confident that Booth will recover her form and will stage a comeback in the coming events. Sadly, their hopes were dashed and she again failed to perform in the next event.
The next event was the prestigious Evian Masters presented by Societe Generale. This was an event that showcased the top talent of women golf. Booth performed even worse in this tournament. She posted a score of 291 and finished in the 59th position.
In the light of this analysis, Carly Booth appears to have a slim chance of making it to the top-ten. However, she has shown a remarkable tendency of bouncing back from a bad patch. May be she will get luck this third time.
