What to expect from Martin Kaymer at this year’s Omega European Masters?
At the end of this month the European Tour is going to travel to Switzerland for the Omega European Masters. The venue for this auspicious event is the Crans-sur-Sierre in Crans Montana, Switzerland. The four-day event is going to start on the 29th
of August and is going to end on the 2nd of September.
Players are going to bring their best game to impress the spectators and to win the European Masters. This is going to be one interesting encounter, as the biggest names in the world of golf will go head to head against each other.
Last year, the Omega European Masters was bagged by Dane professional golfer Thomas Bjorn. Martin Kaymer also gave an outstanding performance. Despite the amazing performance of the 27-year-old, he was not able to win the title.
Martin Kaymer had six-under par on the first day. He had seven birdies and one bogey for the day. The second and third rounds were not special for Kaymer, as he scored one-under par and three-under par, respectively.
After the three days Kaymer had a score of ten-under par and was only one stroke behind Bjorn. On the last day, Kaymer managed to give an extraordinary performance with six-under par only on the front nine.
There was nothing special on the back nine and his score remained six-under par for the day. On the other hand, Bjorn scored nine-under par on the day and had a total of twenty-under par.
Kaymer’s total score was sixteen-under par and was four strokes away from the leader.
This year Bjorn will be looking to defend his title and Kaymer will be back to win the title. It was a near match, Kaymer had a good chance. Unfortunately for him, in the end, his luck ran out.
Martin Kaymer is in good form and is expected to give a good performance at the European Masters. He is only 27 years old now. He has many years of good golf ahead of him. He has the capability of being one of the best.
The German professional golfer has won only one major till now. This was in the year 2010 when he bagged the PGA Championship. He also has top-ten finishes in the U.S Open and the Open Championship.
Till now the German has managed 18 professional wins and has the potential of doing much more. Out of these 18 wins, 10 came from the European Tour, 2 from the Challenge Tour and he secured six other wins.
The 27-year-old has shown great promise and is expected to play well in the coming tournaments. He is in good form. He just needs to balance everything out and remain consistent.
Even now, he has proven to be the best in the new comers and is always a strong contender for any tournament that he participates in.
